2026 – 2027 Season Information
Registration Information
League registration begins July 1st. The cost is $45 per quizzer. This fee includes the league season and District Finals. Early registration ends October 1st. After October 1st, a late registration fee will be added and the new price will be $55 per quizzer. The last day any team may register is January 1st.
Team Names
Please consider individualizing team names even if your church only has 1 registered JBQ team. We will still recognize the name of your church.
League Information
Each league is responsible for coordinating event locations. Teams should contact their league coordinators for season competition dates, question set ranges, locations, etc. All leagues follow the National JBQ Guidelines and the Pen Florida District Guidelines along with the Serious Seven (Pen Florida’s interpretation of the National Guidelines).
Officials
Each Achiever Division team is required to bring 2-certified officials, one of which is trained and certified to quizmaster at league competitions. Each Searcher Division team is required to bring 2-certified officials. Each Rising Star Division team is required to bring 1-certified official. . A quizmaster must be provided for every two Searcher teams, Rising Stars teams, or a combination thereof. (This means if a church only has one Searcher team and one Rising Stars team, they must provide a quizmaster to serve in either division.) Teams who do not bring the required number of certified officials at ANY point throughout the season, league or district quizzing, will be disqualified from the event.

IRON INVITATIONAL & DISTRICT FINALS
After the traditional league season concludes in February, district-level quizzing begins. District level quizzing involves the entire Pen Florida District, all six leagues, from Jacksonville to Miami.
The Iron Invitational is a semi-district final in which the top 14 Achiever division teams from the Pen Florida District compete to determine Flight 1 and Flight 2 placement at the Pen Florida District Final. The 2027 Iron Invitational will take place on Saturday, March 13th at Haven Worship Center in Winter Haven, Florida.
District Finals is a district-wide competition in which all teams and all divisions (Achiever, Searcher, and Rising Stars) from the Pen Florida District gather to compete. Teams are placed into flights, or levels, based on their cumulative win/loss ranking throughout the traditional league season. The top 4 teams in Flight 1 (the Flight of Champions) will receive an invitation to the Southeast Regional competition. The District Champion receives an automatic invitation to the National Festival. The tenative date and location for the Pen Florida District Final is April 10, 2027 at Southeastern University.
REGIONAL & NATIONAL LEVEL QUIZZING
The top 4 teams at the Pen Florida District Final receive an invitation to the Southeast Regional, while the District Champion receives an automatic invitation to the National Festival.
The Southeast Regional is a two-day competition in which teams compete against 23 other teams from across the Southeast Region. These teams are from Pen Florida, West Florida, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Teams play a full round robin for a total of 23 rounds. The top 6 teams from the Southeast Regional (excluding District Champions) will receive an invitation to the National Festival. The 2026 Southeast Regional will take place in West Florida on April 30th and May 1st. Location TBD.
Though more than 4 teams from any one district may compete at the Southeast Regional, no more than 4 teams from any one district may attend the National Festival. This means that if 5 teams from the Pen Florida District receive an invitation to the Southeast Regional, then only 4 of those 5 teams may compete at the National Festival.
The National Festival is a three-day competition in which 80 teams from across the nation compete together. Teams attend break out sessions and the opening ceremony on Thursday, then compete on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s quiz meet determines flight, or level, placement on Saturday. The 2027 National Festival will be June 10 – 12. Location TBD.
