Purpose of the Officials Test
Officials are some of the most important members of the Junior Bible Quiz community. These volunteers help ensure the efficiency and integrity of all JBQ quizmeets. There are six types of officials: coordinator, coach, quizmaster, head judge, timekeeper, and scorekeeper. Officials make sure that each match runs smoothly and according to the National JBQ Guidelines.
The officials test has two parts: general rules of all officials and electronic scorekeeping. Before officiating, officials must pass both portions of the officials test with a 75% in order to be certified.
Judges/Timekeepers = Officials Test
Scorekeepers = EZ Scorekeeping Test
Quizmasters = Officials Test & the EZ Scorekeeping Test
Passing the test does not mean you will be required to officiate in each of these areas, rather that you are qualified to serve in any of these roles. Your church coordinator will recommend you for a position. Certification is valid for three years.
Though it is highly recommended that coordinators and coaches take the officials test, they are not required to become certified. However, if the coordinators or coaches need to officiate at a competition, they must be certified to do so.
DEADLINE. All officials must take and pass the officials test by the Sunday prior to the quizmeet. Test scores are sent to the PF District Coordinator and are added to the officials list. Officials may continue to submit their tests until the day before the quizmeet, but they must notify their league coordinator directly with their results.
Official Requirements by Division
Each Achiever division team is required to bring 2-certified officials to a quizmeet, one of which is trained and certified to quizmaster.
Each Searcher division team is required to bring 2-certified officials to a quizmeet.
Each Rising Stars division team is required to bring 1 certified official to a quizmeet.
For every two Searcher division teams and/or Rising Stars division teams, a church must provide a quizmaster as part of the officials count. Please see the Pen Florida Guidelines for examples.

- STEP 2: SELECT A TEST TO TAKE
The officials test has two parts. See the description above to determine which test to take.
- STEP 3: ENTER THE PASSWORD
Please contact your league coordinator or church coordinator for the password.
- STEP 4: TAKE THE TEST
Remember to take your time and use your resources. The general knowledge test is longer than the scorekeeping test.
- STEP 5: SUBMIT THE RESULTS
Take a screenshot of your passing score as proof of certification. Send your certification to your league coordinator.
