“Go and make disciples”

This command, now called the “Great Commission,” Jesus gave to his apostles at His ascension is still the charge to the church today–and JBQ helps us fulfill this command. In JBQ, quizzers study the Bible making them students of the Word of God. 

Teach your children foundational Bible concepts through Junior Bible Quiz. Competition motivates us to learn more, understand deeper, and articulate what we know in a fun, challenging environment.

Teams meet once a month to compete, attempting to respond first to questions in order to earn points and win games.

At the heart of it all is a desire to know the Word of God better and deeply connect with the God of the Word.

Matthew 28:19-20

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Quick Facts

  • Junior Bible Quiz is a ministry through the Assemblies of God. 
  • Children in Pre-K through 6th grade are eligible to participate. 
  • There are over 50 JBQ teams in the Pen Florida District broken up into 6 leagues. 
  • Churches compete against other local churches in their league. (For more information about leagues, click here.)
  • Leagues are split into different divisions: Achiever, Searcher, and Rising Stars. (For more information about divisions, click here.)
  • District competitions span from September through April. 

How does JBQ work?

The Bible

Quizzers study from the NLT translation of the Bible Fact-Pak, which contains 576 questions from the Bible. The questions are split into values of 10, 20, and 30 points. 10-point questions involve basic Bible facts. 20-point questions involve core Christian doctrine. 30-point questions are mostly Scripture memorization. Some questions may be given in “essence” while others must be given word for word. 

The Game

Quizzers use the information from the Bible Fact-Pak to play the game. Quizzers compete on a team from their local church. During a quiz match, four quizzers on the red team compete against four quizzers on the green team. Each quiz match has 20 questions, valued at 10, 20, or 30 points each. The first quizzer to activate the quiz equipment answers. The team with the highest score at the end of the match wins. 

The Competitions

Once a month, teams compete against other local churches in their area. Quizzers and teams have the opportunity to travel to different cities, build friendships with other quizzers, and earn awards and prizes. Ultimately, the competitions challenge our quizzers to learn and study the Word of God more and more–while having fun with their families and friends. 

Who is involved in JBQ?

The Family

JBQ is a family discipleship ministry designed to help the entire family grow their relationship with Jesus Christ. Parents, siblings, and other relatives can help their quizzers study their assigned questions from the Bible Fact-Pak, which begins important life altering conversations between quizzers and their families. Quizzers also spend more time with their families as they study at home together, attend practices together, and compete at quizmeets together.

The Church

In a church setting, quizzers deepen their understanding of Scripture. Quizzers attend church and practice with their teams, providing them with the perfect opportunity to ask questions and further their biblical knowledge and relationship with Jesus Christ. Additionally, quizzers create friendships with other believers in their same age group and have fun learning the Bible together. As a result, quizzers feel apart of their church community.

The District

On a district level, JBQ is a great opportunity for quizzers to witness the capital “C” church grow. Quizzers travel to other churches from across the district to compete against quizzers who are studying the same questions. Therefore, they build friendships with these teams from other churches. Quizzers also witness the capital “C” church come alive. At these competitions, everyone has a role. Parents and family members officiate, coach, or cheer on teams. As a result, quizzers see their families and friends serving like Christ.
